Being Bold…

Being Bold…

Revlon Bold Sangria with Essie Shine of the Times
I’ve been in a bit of a nail funk lately (I know, gasp!) but I just haven’t felt very inspired in that department.  I haven’t used shine of the times in years.  Years.  If I’m being honest, I don’t really like it.  It just isn’t really my cup of tea.  But something made me use it over top of the bold sangria, and I really really loved how it turned out!
Oh.  And this manicure lasted 5 days.  Without and special tips or tricks or anything.  And I think the only reason it chipped on the fifth day is because I had my hands in dish water for entirely too long and doing some deep (trash bag) cleaning.  Did any of your parents ever call a good “purge” trash bag cleaning?  You know, when you have to go through all your stuff and get rid of what you don’t want/need?  Well, mine did.  And it’s good for the soul sometimes.
Happy Friday, loves.  Hope you have a fantabulous weekend!

Stuff & Things 12/4

++ Monday morning, I woke up screaming in pain.  I guess I was rolling over in bed and must have accidentally nudged the cat.  Well.  Apparently I knocked him off the bed and he panicked and clung on for dear life.  TO MY NECK.  Straight puncture wounds.  Luckily my reaction was to pull him UP instead of push him DOWN, so it’s just the punctures.  But ow!  Oh, and he also got my thumb.  So yeah.  That was a really awesome way to start this week.

++ I made one of my favorite crockpot meals for dinner on Tuesday (pork tenderloin) with mashed potatoes and green beans.  Trust me.  You’ll like it.  And it makes excellent leftovers.  And this is coming from someone who isn’t crazy about pork.
++ So…I obviously had to buy regular milk for Thanksgiving baking/cooking.  In all honesty, I haven’t bought milk in a few months.  But since it was here…of course I’ve been eating a lot of cereal.  It’s like the time when I quit soda originally and J needed me to test his drink at a restaurant to see if it was regular or diet.  It was regular…and I just kept sipping away.  “Not all of it,” he shouted.  Uh?  That’s like asking a crack addict “hey, is this crack? No!  Don’t smoke all of it!”  (Do you smoke crack?  I don’t know the inner workings of the drug world).  For those of you who are new…I quit regular milk/cereal a few months ago.
++ And well…sometimes we all need a little something to brighten our days.  So here you go.
Now it’s your turn!

November Beauty Favorites

big sexy hair spray & play.  I’ve seen this stuff around for years and I recently received a gift from a very sweet friend and this was part of the package!  I never gave this kind of stuff a second look–but it adds SO much volume to my hair with such a little bit of product!
maybelline colorshow in impeccable greys.  This was my first ever grey polish which I bought last year (I know) and I fell in love instantly.  But then I moved on.  I mean, when you have over…well, never mind.  I’m not sharing exactly how many polishes I have because you would judge me, but it’s a lot.  I rediscovered this in the last few months and I just. can’t. stop.
maybelline pumped up colossal volume express.  I haven’t totally abandoned my beloved wnw mascara–but this just adds a different kind of flare to my lashes which I’ve been loving lately!  It does okay smudge wise (not as well as the wnw).  This is a non-waterproof formula so I’m pretty impressed in that department considering.  I’ll say this.  The brush is massive and a little hard to work with sometimes.  But once I found a way to make it work, I really loved the results.
taylor swift wonderstruck perfume.  Oh, my gosh.  Have I been living under a rock because holy sweet goodness.  Husband?  Are you listening?  Let’s add this to the Christmas list!!
clearasil ultra acne + marks wash & mask.  I’m still using the clinique–but only once a day now.  I use this baby at night.  And y’all.  I had some serious hyper pigmentation going on after my face had it’s freak out earlier this fall.  I didn’t really think this would do anything but figured “hey, why not give it a try.”  Uh.  It’s working.  My scars are almost completely faded!
jordana twist & shine in cranberry crush.  Such a perfect fall color, comfortable on the lips and crazy cheap!  Totally a fan!
EOS lip balm.  Okay.  I had written these off a few years ago.  In fact, I received a buttload of them for christmas just after I’d pretty much decided I wasn’t in love with the brand…and so they’ve been hanging out in a jar in my office as decor.  But lately I’ve been reaching for them to use under lipsticks if my lips are particularly dry.  They’re the perfect formula to wear under a lipstick because they’re not greasy (you know, causing the lipstick to slide right off).  In fact, they almost make the lipstick adhere better and look better.  Trust me.  Give it a try!
Okay friends.  That’s it for me today!  I hope you all are having a lovely week!

Sugar Plum Fairy

I’ve been itching to get my hands on some bolder lip colors for fall and winter.  But I’m kind of chicken and wasn’t sure that I could pull them off.  Plus, I’m extremely picky about how products feel on my lips.

Enter: Wet ‘n Wild.
I know.  You guys are going to start to think I get a commission from recommending their products (I don’t).  But with how I rave on and on about the megalast polishes I should.  Well, now you can add the Megalast lipsticks to the mix.
I’ll be honest.
I had very low expectations.
I was really just picking up a few colors to test to see if I could even handle wearing dark colors.  I had zero intentions of actually liking the product.
Let me be clear here.
These lipsticks are $1.99.
$1.99
Oh.
And like usual, the drugstore (CVS) was running a deal at the time
(until Sunday if you’re interested).
Buy one get one 50% off.
I bought several.
Here’s what their website claims about this product.
4 HOUR, LONGWEARING LIP COLOR LEAVES A SEMI-MATTE, CREME FINISH IN ONE STROKE!

And y’all?  It actually lives up to the website claims which in my opinion almost never happens even with higher end products.  I feel like people get a little sell happy in those descriptions and we’re set up for disappointment.  But the color applied evenly in one stroke.  It lasted even through eating cereal.  And it was comfortable.
  • I originally applied at 9:30 AM.
  • I ate cereal at 10:30AM
  • I didn’t have to reapply until 2:30 after eating a subway sandwich.
I’m so glad I picked up several of these–and I’m sure I’ll be buying more as we shift into different seasons.
Wet n’ Wild is just my jam, y’all.

**Congratulations to Stephanie M. on winning the Thanksgiving Stuff & Things giveaway!  Email either myself or Kristin with your address, and we’ll get your package in the mail!**

Is This What Normal People Do?

Is This What Normal People Do?

Saturday morning we were out the door bright and early to meet my in-laws in the middle.  Translation: at a Cracker Barrel an hour away.

Afterwards, we spent our Saturday doing what I can only imagine normal people (translation: non-football people) do on Saturdays.  We wandered a small town on our way home.  I got a massive chocolate cone (as one does when wandering around outside on a 30 degree day).  We browsed other people’s crap in a three story thrift shop.

And then, on a whim, we stopped to tour a couple model homes off the side of the highway.  The problem there is… well, now we want those homes.  We have the “let’s build a house” bug!  Sadly, with a football life, it’s too soon into J’s career to be buying or building any homes.  We agree that we probably need to know that we’re going to stay somewhere for 5+ years before we do any kind of house buying.

But it was still really fun to dream.
You guys can keep the sugar plums
I have visions of  granite and hardwoods and open floor plans dancing in my head!
