I’m sure at this point you all know how I feel about blogland. I swear sometimes you guys are the only people in my corner always rooting me on! So when Kat from Lemonade Linings asked if I’d like to participate in the Tour of Blogland, it was an easy yes!
WHAT AM I WORKING ON?
Currently, I’m working on getting my youtube channel back up and going. I plan to have a few posts a week that partner with my channel! I’m so excited about it all, but I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I was a little nervous, too.
HOW DOES MY WORK DIFFER FROM OTHERS IN ITS GENRE?
I’m kind of all over the place, so I’m not sure if my blog has an actual genre. It kind of hops around in the lifestyle department, occasionally it masquerades as a beauty blog, and sometimes it’s just me rambling on. I’d like to think that I myself am what sets it apart from others. I keep things pretty positive, but I also don’t hesitate to tell it like it is. My lifestyle and marriage are quite different than most simply because of the whole football thing, so I guess that sort of sets it apart too.
WHY DO I WRITE/CREATE WHAT I DO?
What some of you might not know is I’ve actually had this blog for about five years. I didn’t get into the “blog world” part of things until very recently. Because I’m a writer, and I went to school for writing, it was ingrained into my head to practice writing every single day. This blog, for me, is a fun way to do that! I write what strikes me as fun or important.
HOW DOES MY WRITING/CREATING PROCESS WORK?
I like to think that I have a good balance of planned and spur of the moment. My best writing happens when something strikes a chord with me and I just set off running. But if I always waited for inspiration to strike, there would be a lot of blank space. So I tend take Sunday to loosely plot out my week. That gives me some time to allow inspiration to strike as the week goes on, but it also ensures that I don’t go weeks without writing anything at all.
So, without further adieu! Let me introduce you to a few of my favorite ladies!

**I’m reporting in under a haze of cold medicine. I cannot be held responsible if this post ends up making no sense whatsoever. Also? Someone pass the tissues?
This weekend was the bomb.com If you follow me on instagram, you got a little taste of how it was all going (and if you don’t..why don’t you? All the cool kids are doing it. Okay, maybe not, but whatever).
12 is a special number in my family, so how freaking random is it that I ended up with 12 for my first race?
The 5k was good! I am not a morning runner (or a sunshine runner…yes, I’m a vampire), so I knew both of those things would be adjustments. My normal pace is somewhere in the 10:30-11 minute range. We bolted out and about a half mile in I realized I was struggling a bit. Looked down at my phone…I was running a freaking 9 minute mile. I knew I couldn’t keep that up for all 3 miles, so I slowed from the pack (I blame the fact that I am considerably shorter than everyone else haha). Because I started out too quick, I ended up with a side stitch somewhere around 1.5 miles and (ugh) had to walk for a few seconds twice. All in all it was good though! I finished in 33 minutes (not my best time ever, but also not bad considering I had to walk twice).
The game was Ah-FREAKING-maz-ING! The team has been doing SO well this year! We knew last year would be a growing season, so it’s just been so much fun to watch the guys actually kick some butt! We won (against Butler, whom we lost to last year) 28-9!!!
Oh, and during halftime…this happened!
This isn’t my photo. It belongs to someone on the football staff, but I can’t remember who!
The equipment manager proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of a really sweet speech!
Somehow, I wasn’t dead to the world after our crazy morning. I ran home and showered (it was hot! on Saturday) and then we were off to Raleigh for our 10 year reunion!!
It was just so awesome to see familiar old faces and catch up on life! I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about their HS reunions, but in general I just like people. And everyone had such wonderful stories to tell and it was just so neat to see the adult sized versions of people we were all once friends with! That lovely group up there ended up closing down the event (and I might have had too much to drink or too little to eat…or both). The neatest thing about this photo is not only were we all HS buddies, we’d all gone to middle school together, too!!
We didn’t leave Raleigh until 3AM! We live an hour away. And we’d both woken up at 6AM. I…I think we’re too old for that hah!
Sunday, I spent the first half of the day on the bathroom floor (oh, sweet hangover). And then I moved to the couch and didn’t move for two days. I was really hoping I’d wake up this morning (yes, I’m blogging this in real time, am I fired?) feeling more human but no such luck. It might be a work-from-the-couch day and hope for the best!

I’m calling in sick today, friends.
I have no voice.
I can hardly lift my head from the pillow.
And I’m pretty sure the cold medicine I’m on is making me have the most bizarre dreams of my life.
So instead, you can find me on the couch.
I’ll be the one binge watching Gilmore Girls
and trying not to die.
Because I’m very dramatic.
Back to regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.
Promise.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Grefitti (just the color, not the system) Pure Ice Five Some
Can we just take a second to swoon over that black glitter? I mean…really. Sa-woon!
- Tacos. In 24 hours, I ate 8 tacos. 8. I homemade the taco seasoning and I used ground turkey and holy yum! I used this recipe, but I like that you can curtail it to the flavors you like! **edited to add: this recipe is for mult. uses. I typically use about 1/3 or 1/2 per 1 lb ground meat!
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/3 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flake
- Great phone dates with some of my besties this week. Sometimes you just need a good old fashioned gab session with people who just get you.
- Receiving my first paycheck as a published author. Does that make it real? It still doesn’t feel real.
- Connecting every day with new bloggers! I seriously love making new bloggy friends, always!

- Since Saturday night until last night, I think if you collected all the little moments, my husband and I spent maybe…20 minutes total together? Sometimes this football wife thing is hard stuff.
- The sickness. It could be much worse for sure. I still mainly feel like myself, I just feel crappy on top of feeling like me–did that make any sense?
Happy weekend, friends!

>> It’s Wednesday night, and I’m currently trying to decide between a glass of wine and chugging Nyquil. I haz the sicks. And it sucks.
>> I’ve been trying my best to reestablish some sort of schedule this week. It’s proving to be difficult because I’m desperate to stay up each night so I can catch a glimpse of that phantom husband of mine. But I work best first thing in the morning. So it’s important for me to actually, oh, I don’t know…get up! I’m just one big hot mess right now, huh?
>> This Saturday might be the busiest day of my life to date. First up, a 5k on campus (my first, which I guess means I can maybe cross it off the 30 before 30 as long as I…you know…run it). There’s a big game at noon. And then J and I will jet off to Raleigh for our…wait for it… 10 year high school reunion. How. How is that even possible?
>> I promise that I keep meaning to update you all on my skin. I filmed a quick little video the other night to show the progress but who knows when that’ll get edited and up. Take my word for it? It’s much much better.
>> I blitzed my house the other day. What is blitz? Oh. It’s a system I used to implement back in the day. I set a timer and challenge myself to get as many things crossed of my chores todo list in that amount of time. It helps to keep me from getting distracted–and it’s a great way to get all the things I don’t want do done quickly! You should try it sometime!
>> I had a gray hair so wild the other day. It was sprouting out of my bangs. I PANICKED. And cut it off. Yeah. Because that sounds like a good idea, huh?
>> I think I need a week redo.
