++ I spent the afternoon yesterday browsing through Kristin’s recipe index. I’ve been in such a rut lately, and I trust her taste. I’m particularly excited to try the beer bread, creamy chicken casserole, stovetop mac & cheese, her take on chicken enchiladas (sound way better than the boring way I make them), and the lazy lasagna.
++ I started listening to an audio book while I was doing little things around the house: cleaning/cooking/walking the dog, whatever. I started with A Million Little Pieces by James Frey, but it was excruciating and I gave up. Hoping for something a little more interesting, I opted for Diane Chamberlain’s The Good Father, and I’m really enjoying it so far!
++ As you probably already know if you have the internet or logged on to twitter for half a second this week– NC got some snow/ice. I don’t mind this kind of weather as long as we don’t lose power. I went to sleep on Monday night really anxious that I’d wake up to a cold house and blinking clocks, but luckily our power stayed on!
++ J got me into a game called 4 pictures 1 word. I swear, that game makes you want to blow your brains out. There have been times where we’ve each gotten stuck on a word, spent days trying to figure it out, and every single time it’s something that makes us hate ourselves for not knowing it.
++ I think we’re in the February slump. Life just isn’t all that exciting right now. Now that we’ve gotten our snow/ice in, I could be convinced to hope for spring to roll around. I haven’t gone for a run in a week and that’s just no good for anyone. ha. Even Bailey is bored out of her skin. I’m not one to usually wish time away, but I’d be okay with February getting a move on!

I need to check out Kristin's lazy lasagna – because that kind of describes me in the kitchen! Our power has stayed on too, {Thank God!} and yes, I can safely say I'm ready for spring now!
The February slump is a real thing – if I could open my eyes and have it be April 1st, I would totally do it! This time of year is such a struggle for me. Hope you're staying warm down there!
February generally gets my panties in a wad. I prefer March much more So glad you kept power, that's what I hate most about this ice crap.
I'm pretty much over February too! Valentine's Day is fun, but once that's over it's like ok, can it be spring now?? I need some new recipes too!
I am so ready for spring! I just want to wear dresses and sandals — like WHY with this 12 degree weather and single digit wind chills!! I think I'll need to check this game out — Nadine got me hooked on Trivia Crack, so why not be addicted to another one?!?
I like the idea of a Feb slump. Mostly because I'm feeling it too and I need a reason to blame this funk on. I'm going with it! Same weather here, but I haven't lost power yet either and I've still had to trek it into work every day 🙁 I'm ready for the weekend!
Yes! Can February just be over, yet? Please?
I'm over winter. This is nonsense already.
I can't do audiobooks. I have started getting into podcasts but mostly when I'm doing stuff around the house, or writing, I'll listen to music. Spotify keeps me sane.
I've tried several of Kristin's recipes, and they're always good! Also… we've got LESS THAN A WEEK, friend! I'm about to get super annoying with the countdown to Joey and Ryan's DAY OF FUN!
Ohhh I feel ya girl, I just text Dustin this morning and said I'm over this month haha. There's snow on the ground here and I've just felt so blah, especially this week. Move on Feb is right, come on warm weather 😉
Oh yes– I'm so glad our power stayed on!! It flickered a few times on Monday night when the ice was coming down, but thank God that it didn't stay off. And I've recently started listening to audiobooks– but they've really got to be interesting to keep my mind from wandering off! I'll have to look and see if my library has Diane Chamberlain books on audio– I know she'll keep my mind occupied. 🙂
It's almost Spring!!! 🙂
Xo
I think the entire East coast is ready for Spring!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
I hear ya about the rut! I'm definitely in it too! Glad y'all didn't lose power!
I am right there with you in the February Slump. I need some sunshine in my life, and temperatures above 0 would be beyond fantastic.
I played 4 Pictures, 1 Word for all of a day before I deleted it. I needed to save myself from throwing my phone and breaking it.
i am so in the february slump as well. hurry up spring!
i am very picky about the audiobooks i listen to – you can get so bored so easily and then an hour goes by and you don't remember a thing lol
February is our busiest month of the year it seems and I still don't feel settled from the holiday months. I do feel the need for spring though. Im just over the coldish weather. Ready for planting and playing outside. And flip flops.
February lends itself to slumping. I always feel it this month, particularly this time of this month.
I have been following the weather in NC, a lot of my friends live there.
Lazy lasagna sounds right up my alley! I've wanted to read one of Diane Chamberlain's books for a while now- I can't wait to hear what you think of this one when you finish. So glad you didn't lose power with all of the ice, and ahhh hopefully spring will be here before we know it!
Definitely in the February slump! At least it's a short month and will be over soon!
I'm completely with you in feeling like I'm in a February slump! I was excited for things to calm down in the new year, but now I'm ready for them to pick up again – haha! At least tomorrow is Friday 🙂 xoxo
February slump indeed! Those are some of my favorite recipes on my blog. That creamy chicken casserole…you won't be able to stop eating it.
This month is quite boring I have to agree. I read A Million Little Pieces years ago {I believe it was in 2005?! OH WOW} in like two days. Maybe it was the right time. If I read it today I don't know what I would do, or if I could actually read it again.
Isn't that James Frey book a scam? I think I remember hearing he told Oprah that it was all a lie! lol
