Stuff & Things 2/19

by | Feb 19, 2015 | Throwback | 26 comments

++ I spent the afternoon yesterday browsing through Kristin’s recipe index.  I’ve been in such a rut lately, and I trust her taste.  I’m particularly excited to try the beer bread, creamy chicken casserole, stovetop mac & cheese, her take on chicken enchiladas (sound way better than the boring way I make them), and the lazy lasagna.

++ I started listening to an audio book while I was doing little things around the house: cleaning/cooking/walking the dog, whatever.  I started with A Million Little Pieces by James Frey, but it was excruciating and I gave up.  Hoping for something a little more interesting, I opted for Diane Chamberlain’s The Good Father, and I’m really enjoying it so far!

++ As you probably already know if you have the internet or logged on to twitter for half a second this week– NC got some snow/ice.  I don’t mind this kind of weather as long as we don’t lose power.  I went to sleep on Monday night really anxious that I’d wake up to a cold house and blinking clocks, but luckily our power stayed on!

++  J got me into a game called 4 pictures 1 word.  I swear, that game makes you want to blow your brains out.  There have been times where we’ve each gotten stuck on a word, spent days trying to figure it out, and every single time it’s something that makes us hate ourselves for not knowing it.

++ I think we’re in the February slump.  Life just isn’t all that exciting right now.  Now that we’ve gotten our snow/ice in, I could be convinced to hope for spring to roll around.  I haven’t gone for a run in a week and that’s just no good for anyone. ha.  Even Bailey is bored out of her skin.  I’m not one to usually wish time away, but I’d be okay with February getting a move on!

Okay friends!  Your turn!

  5. I am so ready for spring! I just want to wear dresses and sandals — like WHY with this 12 degree weather and single digit wind chills!! I think I'll need to check this game out — Nadine got me hooked on Trivia Crack, so why not be addicted to another one?!?

  6. I like the idea of a Feb slump. Mostly because I'm feeling it too and I need a reason to blame this funk on. I'm going with it! Same weather here, but I haven't lost power yet either and I've still had to trek it into work every day 🙁 I'm ready for the weekend!

  7. I'm over winter. This is nonsense already.

I can't do audiobooks. I have started getting into podcasts but mostly when I'm doing stuff around the house, or writing, I'll listen to music. Spotify keeps me sane.

  9. Ohhh I feel ya girl, I just text Dustin this morning and said I'm over this month haha. There's snow on the ground here and I've just felt so blah, especially this week. Move on Feb is right, come on warm weather 😉

  10. Oh yes– I'm so glad our power stayed on!! It flickered a few times on Monday night when the ice was coming down, but thank God that it didn't stay off. And I've recently started listening to audiobooks– but they've really got to be interesting to keep my mind from wandering off! I'll have to look and see if my library has Diane Chamberlain books on audio– I know she'll keep my mind occupied. 🙂

i am very picky about the audiobooks i listen to – you can get so bored so easily and then an hour goes by and you don't remember a thing lol

  21. This month is quite boring I have to agree. I read A Million Little Pieces years ago {I believe it was in 2005?! OH WOW} in like two days. Maybe it was the right time. If I read it today I don't know what I would do, or if I could actually read it again.

  22. Isn't that James Frey book a scam? I think I remember hearing he told Oprah that it was all a lie! lol
