My Spring Must Haves

Spring Must Haves

Spring is here, y’all.  Or at least in North Carolina it is.  I’m usually a huge fan of winter, but because life got so hard in December, I’m happy to see sunnier (and warmer) days.  Move along winter.  Move along.
Spring means shedding the layers!  Hallelujah, am I right?  Well, that always brings up some anxiety for me.  While I love the warmth like the rest of y’all, I’ve discovered some products and tricks that help make me (and well, everyone around me) a little more comfortable.
  1. Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant.  I’m a sweater, y’all.  I’m just going to come right out and say it.  It’s unfortunate and gross, but there’s nothing I can do about it.  I’ve accepted it.  But one thing I won’t accept is being less than…fresh.  I’ve struggled to find a deodorant that actually works for me.  My friend suggested this and while it is cringe worthy expensive, it works.  I’m sold.
  2. Jergen’s Instant Sun.  As a girl who used to manage a tanning salon, I like to get my tan on.  But as I’ve gotten older, all those UV rays scare me a little more than they used to.  I’ve always been a big fan of the Jergen’s sunless tanners, and this one is no exception!
  3.  Water Bottle.  It honestly doesn’t matter what kind (duh).  But for me, I’ve found that I just feel all around better when I’m well hydrated.  But beyond staying hydrated, drinking extra water in the heat helps your skin!  I find it much easier to meet my water intake goal when I have a designated bottle!  (For those wondering, I try to drink between 64-96 oz/ day).
  4. Emoji EpiSlim Epilator(c/o Lipton Publicity) I like my bikinis and my tank tops, but I hate having to shave daily.  So this is my new best friend.  It’s designed for those delicate areas (under arms, bikini area, upper lip, etc), and it works! I’ll admit, though, while the packaging claims this product to be “comfortable,” this is anything but comfortable for me (but then again I’m kind of a pansy, so who knows).  But it’s worth it, in my opinion, not to have to worry about regrowth for up to 6 weeks.
  5. Lip Balm with SPF.  I absolutely cannot stand the feeling of burned lips–so once the sun makes its appearance, I’m always sure to be well armed.  I have many favorites, but the carmex moisture plus has been a staple in my collection since high school!
Happy spring!!  I feel like North Carolina pretty much skips right over spring and jumps right into summer–but the next 10 days look like perfect spring days here!!

  1. Yay for spring!! I use that deodorant too and it keeps me fresh! I can't decide if I'm going to use sunless tanning lotion this year or not. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love how it makes me look but hubby acts like I'm asking him to move mountains when all I want him to do is rub some on my back. And then I feel like it starts streaking after a while. Ugh. But the alternative is pasty white skin. I feel like I may just go with that this year.

  6. I finally bought a glass water bottle this weekend. I'd been thinking about it for awhile. Lifefactory on Amazon.
I used to use that lip balm but, like a lot of them, it started drying out my lips. Currently, I'm liking Burt's Bees ORIGINAL. The original is the only kind that really does anything. Those fruity ones just coat your lips for 3 minutes.

  7. I constantly have my water bottle with me! I have trying to drink at least 64oz of water a day, want to get used to drinking all that water before it gets hot and I forget to drink enough water! I haven't tried that instant sun but have used jergens in the past! I am using the SunKissed by the Kardashians right now and boy does it work!

  8. Great list! I will have to check out that sunless tanner, I am SUPER pale but so not willing to fry my skin on the sun just for a tan! Sunless tanners can be so hit or miss so I'm always looking for a good one!

  9. I can't live without a water bottle either- it really makes the biggest difference in how much water I drink daily! And epilators are so intriguing to me, but I think I'd find them way too painful because I'm a huge wimp.

  11. I don't know about spring considering it was 31 and icy this morning (sigh) but at least the sun's out today, for maybe the third time this month! I just recently got a new infuser water bottle. Life changing…lemon water is so much better than plain water!

I'm intrigued by this epilator business…

  12. Totally with you on the water bottle thing… I always have one with me! Same with chapstick. I'm fairly certain I would crumble up and die if I didn't have my chapstick at all times. I'm obsessed.

  13. Alabama totally jumps in to summer and bypasses spring as well. Well, except for the pollen. We get plenty of spring pollen and allergies around here! Ugh! I need a sunless tanner bad. BAD. Last time I used Jergens it smelled like pretzels. Is that still the case? I always have SPF chapstick on! Gotta protect those lips! And I am totally a sweater as well. Some people can run 3 miles in the heat and not a drop, I don't get it?! I walk outside in anything over 80 and I about die.

  14. I have a spring must have post in draft too! We're so alike, haha! 🙂
Yes to the sunless tanner for sure! I am as pale as they get. And I really want to try that Epilator. I wonder if I could convince the hubs to get it for me. I hate shaving, which is why I love winter too.

  15. Love that deodorant. Sometimes Target, which you can now partake in!, has some great deals on that. I've been able to stack coupons for it from their site plus coupons from the paper and get a good deal, especially when they have buy three and get a $5 gift card!

  16. Alright, I've never tried an epilator but I kind of want to!

  17. Oh man, I'm a sweater too…but not like that would be news to you considering we are the same person, lol! Need to get my hands on some of that deo to try out!

  19. I always knew I loved you, but even more now (if that's possible) that I find out you're a sweater like me. I love that Secret Clinical deo! It works GREAT! I've tried some of the Jergens fake tan spray stuff before, but man the spray kind is messy and streaky! I need to try this. I love that relaxation feeling from a tanning bed, but like you I'm getting old and more cautious of the damage it causes.

  20. I am looking for a new tanner so I'll be checking that one out. I checked out that Emoji Epilator because I hate having to shave too until I realized it's like a massive tweezer! Ouch!

  21. Another little tip: try the Mitchum deodorant. It's always the cheapest one and works better for me than the secret clinical strength – though I always put it on in the morning. If I remember correctly the secret says to put it on before bed at night.
