Stuff & Things 1/8

>> For a crockpot meal, this broccoli & cheddar required a good bit of prep.  But was totally worth it.  J and I used to eat at McAlisters almost every day in college, opting for the broccoli & cheddar soup in a bread bowl so this was total comfort food.  I’m debating making another batch today because holy bananas it’s freezing here in NC!

>> Bailey has started this new thing where she wakes up about 6 times a night to go outside.  If you look at my fitbit sleep history, it looks like I have an infant.  In an attempt to get her tired enough not to do this, J and I started trading off taking her for our runs.  Her longest one was with me on Tuesday when we ran 2.5 miles.  At one point I ran by a house where a guy was getting into his car.  He laughed.  It took me a moment to understand WHY he laughed and then I realized it was because B was trailing a good bit behind me.  Poor pup was exhausted.  But the good news was she only woke up once that night!

>> My happy place lately has been at my desk during my lunch hour.  A good sandwich (still on my sandwich with ALL OF THE PICKLES kick) and The Good Wife.  Friends have been bullying me to start this show for a good long while but I resisted.  I finally gave in and I’m loving it!

>> In TV binging related news, FRIENDS is now on Netflix.  This excites me only because I’m supremely lazy and it makes my nightly FRIENDS watching easier since I…you know, don’t have to get out of bed to put in the next disc.  I was disappointed, though, to realize it’s the TV edit of the show.  I can quote FRIENDS in my sleep, so it throws me off when I know what the next line is but it never comes.  Some of the best jokes are only available in DVD form.  But nonetheless, FRIENDS on netflix is a GOOD thing!

>> I got about 4 inches of hair chopped off over the weekend.  I’d share a picture but 1) the only one I have is of me still in my onesie and I fear y’all would judge me and 2) you can’t even tell I got a haircut.  That’s when you know your hair was way too freaking long–when you chop of 4 inches and you can’t even tell.  I’m really tempted to keep going…and hack it off all the way to my collar bone.  But I’m resisting for now.  4 inches was at least something.

Okay now it’s your turn!

So my friend called me last week in a bit of a panic. Without really meaning to, she and her husband sold their house and bought a new one. I'd tell you the whole story about how someone randomly showed up on their doorstep putting in an offer on their house that...

  1. Even John was watching Friends on Netflix. Definitely a great show. We're totally in love with Blacklist right now.

  2. McCallisters, I love it. We don't have one around here but every time we travel, I make a big deal about how we should stop because its SO yummy. Comfort food for sure. Your happy place looks perfect. I love Friends but David is all negative about it. And NOOOOOOO, don't cut your hair. I mean, I know you'll look beautiful even with short hair but your long hair is totes adorbs {just kidding, I just wanted to say that}. But seriously, I love your hair and think you should leave it. And add a picture soon!

  3. I would certainly NOT judge you in a onesie, I want one! I'm so excited Friends is on Netflix now. We have Netflix and I've used it like once, now I will be using it all the time 🙂 I watch friends almost every night! It's always on between about 3 different channels, will never tire of it!

  4. Mmmm McCallisters! My sister worked at one when she was in high school and would always bring me home chicken tortilla soup. Slurp!

I cut my hair to my collar bone a few weeks ago. It was so stringy towards the bottom and I already have super fine hair so my hair girl told me it was best to do a blunt cut and let it grown back out one length for awhile to get some movement. Sigh. I hate it. A lot of people have told me its cute but I miss my long hair and cant wait for it to grow back out!

  9. That throws me off on Friends too! I used to have all of the dvds but they went missing in my last apartment… I'm pretty sure the painters stole them 🙁 Also your planner looks so organized!! I'm jealous haha.

  10. I'm usually in my pajamas by 6 pm so I wouldn't judge you in your onsie. 🙂 I must be a complete weirdo because we don't have Netflix. I guess we're just not interested in jumping on the bandwagon. It's – 6 here right now if that makes you feel any warmer. Haha. So awful I know. I hope that you're having a good day so far. 🙂

  11. Four inches is a LOT of hair – WOWEE!!! I still want to see a picture!

And we just adopted a dog, and my goal is to get her up to a jog. Currently, she is a meander walker – But, we did get up to a trot the other day. She doesn't get up a lot in the night to be walked – but, I just want to be able to have her with me when I do my morning runs.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup – and Sandwiches with Pickles – – – SOUND AMAZING. I love spicy peppers on my sandwiches – – And soup: Let me tell you, I have been on a soup kick this week, 3 times this week. Today, I went for it, and I am having on our those Chunky Soups – – – BEER CHEESE AND POTATO WITH BEEF. I can't even. I am too excited for this! (And I think it is because it so SO stinking cold – – – it was -15 degrees with the windchill this morning.)

  12. I watched so many episodes of Friends over the weekend. Seriously love that show and I'm excited to start it all over again.

I would never judge you for wearing a onsie as long as you don't judge me for using a snuggie. Deal? 😉

  14. Stumbled across your blog today. The soup looks good… but the whole broccoli thing throws me off! And… describe "cold" when it comes to NC? It was -3 (without the wind chill) where I am when I headed to work this morning! 🙂

  15. I was so happy to see Friends is on Netflix now! I've never watched through the entire show, but I have seen quite a few of the episodes. I want to start at the beginning and watch the whole thing. Like I need one more thing to watch, haha.

I am DYING for a haircut, too. I'm so fed up with my stupid thin frizzy hair, I've even contemplated a pixie cut. I don't think my husband would appreciate that, though, haha.

  17. Since a onesie was on my Christmas list you know I'm not judging you! Most comfortable pj's EVER! Broccoli cheddar soup is my fave, but I've never made my own, I should try that! I seriously think we need to get Netflix. So many good shows on it!

    3) Yay for the good wife! I usually only like shows that make me laugh, but the good wife sucked me in. Also, yay for friends!! I've been watching it from the beginning, and it is still surprisingly relevant!

  19. Holy COW. That's what I just said…Friends on Netflix isn't the same as original friends on DVD {or Europe}. Something is always missing and it drove me nuts. Still does. I know those lines to and it irks me to not hear them sometimes. Grrrrr

  20. No judging in the onesie. I've got two! I've been looking for a new show to binge watch. Maybe I'll check out The Good Life. I've been thinking about chopping my hair off to a long bob but can't pull myself to do it!
