Game On…

I just thought this might strike a chord with some of you like it did me.  I follow Sarah Dessen on twitter, and yesterday, which was a particularly hard day (do they all seem that way these days or is that just me?), she tweeted this in reference to the book she abandoned last winter.

Maybe it’s because I’m such a words person, but sometimes someone says the exact words I need to hear to transform my entire perspective on a situation.  And sometimes just shifting your perspective can make something feel less suffocating.

We’re still over here waiting in our corner for our upswing.  We’ve had a few more curve balls and sucker punches, so extra prayers would be awesome, you know, if that’s your thing.  If not, good vibes are always cool too.

But no matter what you’ve got going on.  No matter what you’re struggling with.  Know that everyone out there is going through something.  And how cool would it be if we all stood together and faced all these demons together?

Like an epic game of red rover.

  1. 🙁 Hugs, friend. I hate to hear that things aren't going so well. I love how you worded that about perspective – when it changes, it changes everything. Definitely keeping you in my prayers.

  2. That is so true. Things turn around over time.
I've been feeling pretty down on myself lately (physically). The other day I was scrolling through insta and saw a photo of a friend doing a bad-a yoga pose. She said she didn't want to post it because she didn't like the way it made her look, but then she noticed how strong her arms were, how defined her back was, etc. and it make her feel strong, so she posted it–flaws and all. I loved seeing that. It put so much in perspective, and so does that quote.

  6. Sorry you're going through a hard time, girl! Sending prayers AND good vibes, because you can never be too thorough 🙂 And I love that quote. I thought of a similar one the other day (a song lyric, actually), and it was such good perspective. Words really are the best!

  9. I agree on being a words person. Words of affirmation via print, speech, etc are my love language.
And I concur on the "bring it" philosophy. We have to be willing to accept change.
