Not Quite Ready…

I’m at that place where it’s actually time to start writing.  I learned a few things with my first book that made me want to be better prepared for the writing process, so I’ve taken the time over the last few weeks to gather my thoughts.

Because of that?  I’ve been spending a lot of time in the kitchen.

That makes sense, right?
Yeah.
I have butterflies in my stomach, like I’m standing on the high dive looking over the edge trying to muster up the guts to jump.  It doesn’t matter that I’ve jumped before and it was fun.  Every experience is new.  Every character is different.  Every story has its own details to work out.  And it’s time.  And I’m not quite ready.  So like I said…I’ve been in the kitchen.
I made banana bread.  The next morning, I went to heat up some leftovers and found the butter I’d put in the microwave for the banana bread.  Yeah.  Apparently my brain is a little preoccupied.  Hubs says its fine though.  I used this recipe.
I made my family’s sauce and meatballs on Saturday.  Nothing like the house smelling like home all day.  I also whipped up some baked ziti, and the hubs and I had that for an at home date night.  We also watched The Other Woman.  The reviews for that have been terrible, but we really enjoyed it!  Don’t hate me, but I won’t be sharing those recipes.  Some things are perks of dealing with my loud Italian family…like the recipes 😉
Monday was supposed to be The Day.  The day I finalized everything so Tuesday would officially start writing season.  Instead, I made a giant cookie.  I blame Kristin.
She’s right.  I am.
But anyway.  So yeah.  Apparently when I’m not quite ready to write, I cook.  I don’t think the husband minds so much.  Our hips probably do, though.
In other news, we all know and love Marla Jan, right?  Don’t know who I’m talking about?  Well, you should.  I love this girl dearly.  One of her buddies is a writer, and he is donating the proceeds of his trilogy to her lupus walk.  You can find Kevin George‘s Keeper of The Water series here:  Drinking Life, Recruits & The Water Queens.  I’ve just bought them for myself and look forward to diving in!  Each book is only $.99 and the proceeds will go to MJ’s Lupus walk for the month of September!  If you want to help out in addition to purchasing the books, you can donate here!    This is the part of the blogging community that I just love so much.  We are all able to band together for a good cause.  Please spread the word!  Share the links to the books & the link to her walk if your heart feels so inclined!

  9. I'm usually not the biggest romantic comedy fan (is that what it's considered?) but I actually wanted to see The Other Woman, so I'm glad you thought it was good! Also, leaving the butter in the microwave sounds like something I would do too, I (almost daily) put something in the toaster and then forget about it & never eat it! Homemade meatballs are sooo good, I'm sure yours turned out delicious, and you're so right about the scent of home being so comforting! And that giant cookie looks amazing!
