Stuff & Things 3/12

>> Home is wherever I am with you.  I’ve been lucky enough that during this time of displacement, J has been with me for most of it.  But as I was driving “home” from work last night, it hit me.  We can move a hundred times, and I’ll always be okay as long as my little family unit is together.  Bailey & Cam are at my parents’ house in Raleigh.  J is in Buies Creek.  I’m in Charlotte.  This girl needs her little family back together.

>> On that note, we move in on Saturday!  I’m so incredibly thankful that things worked out for me to have a great place to stay only a couple miles from my job in this transition.  But I’m so so ready to get settled in.

>> The one thing that always remains constant whenever I need a dose of comfort and home is FRIENDS.  I fall asleep to it every night (and have since HS).  I’d been watching it on my iPad, balancing it on pillows and blankets and then chucking it off the bed at some point in the middle of the night since we got here.  But on Sunday J brought me our TV and blu ray so I could watch it on Netflix.  True love, people.

>> I mentioned we’re downsizing quite a bit, right?  We got rid of so much stuff in the last few weeks that I seriously wonder how our house didn’t feel like an episode of hoarders!  Our house never seemed cluttered to me–but we must have hidden it well.  SO MUCH JUNK!  I’m super excited about being more intentional with our space.

>> My nails have been naked for two weeks.  I don’t even feel like Joey anymore.  T-minus 2 days until I’m reunited with my nails stuff!!

Okay friends!  Your turn!

Pack Like a Pro: Moving Made Easy

So my friend called me last week in a bit of a panic. Without really meaning to, she and her husband sold their house and bought a new one. I'd tell you the whole story about how someone randomly showed up on their doorstep putting in an offer on their house that...

  1. Yay for being reunited soon! My nails have been naked all week and I can't even claim moving as the cause. More like didn't get anything productive done this weekend so I'm playing catchup every day. I just love that you watch FRIENDS every night to fall asleep. I do too!!! {And I do the same thing when I'm on trips – watch it on my phone or the iPad or something.} I'm so excited for you two to be back together and yay for moving into a new place! So much fun setting everything up 🙂

  6. When I moved out of my college apartment to Florida – I wondered the same thing too! Like, how did I accumulate so much stuff and find places to put them?? Also, I finally painted my nails last night for the first time in 2 weeks. Ahhh to be myself again 🙂

  8. Woohoo for moving in and being reunited this weekend! Can't wait to see your new place! And I love purging stuff when we move – it's crazy how much crap we accumulate that we don't even really use or need!

  9. We purged a ton of stuff the last time we moved which is funny because we moved into a bigger house. Now it feels even bigger.

I feel the same way. As long as I'm with Scott, Erica, and the dogs, home can be anywhere.

    Hooray for nail supply reunions!

  10. I can't wait to see pictures of your new place! I'm kind of jealous that you'll be living the city lifestyle.

Through all of our moves, I've just always felt that home is where all my stuff is because as long as it looks familiar, it's home. (That sounds shallow, but really I've made plenty of places feel like home without Scott, so I just need familiar stuff around me.)

  15. I hear you on the hoarders situation. I feel like we purged so well before moving to Manila – and I don't think we have A LOT of stuff now, but just watch, when I start packing, I'll probably be lugging 6 suitcases wherever we are headed hahaha. Yay for moving in this weekend!

  19. Isn't it crazy how you don't feel like you have a lot of stuff until you have to move or reorganize or something! I'm so excited you guys found a place and that it's close to your job. I can't wait to see what pops up on your nails next 🙂

  20. Okay… confession. My nails have now been naked for 5 WEEKS. So incredibly depressing. I have waited so long to do them, I can't decide on a color. I guess there could be worse problems in life, right? I hope your move went smoothly and you looooove your new place 🙂

  21. We started packing up our house this weekend because we are getting our floors refinished and have to store the whole house in a pod in the backyard. I'm actually kind of excited about it though because we are purging like crazy! It amazes me how much stuff you can accumulate in such a short amount of time!
