Basic kindness is definitely lacking and I think it comes from a true lack of empathy. We're all very involved in our own lives, which is completely understandable, but I think we need to start teaching empathy as a skill in school. I see very little of it.

But then the world is cruel and dark and people suck and my visions of seeing only the good in everything got hazy and I started seeing people for what they really are. I still try to help when I can, but if you cross me I care nothing to help you.

I can definitely relate to this post and I think a lot of it is just getting older and more stressed out and overworked and tired– while it's never an excuse to extend extra kindness to someone. This post was a great reminder though to practice selflessness.
