Our hospital charged us $4,000 extra when Isla was born. I called my insurance company to make sure that I understood our deductible correctly, and they even offered to call the hospital for us to straighten everything out. (Though by the way, if you ever have a baby, ultrasounds and lab work are usually not covered as routine prenatal care, they're optional diagnostics)
