It's hard but I think it was the right choice for you both. We had recently adopted a dog from our local shelter and she was as sweet as can be, but she wasn't trained very well at all. She was really clingy and almost house trained. After about 6 months she and our other dog started fighting and it was bad. We finally had to return her and it absolutely broke my heart. It doesn't take long at all for pets to become our "kids." I hear she now has a good home. 🙂 Keep your head up and who cares what other people think. I know exactly how you feel.

So I still see him ALL the time! We miss him lots and my puppy misses him MORE but sometimes we have to make tough decisions for the better of the animal.

2nd.. That is to sad about having to give your kitty a new home. I don't know how I would handle it if I had to do that to one of my pups. I'd fall to pieces. Hopefully he is doing better now though.

I know what you mean how scary that is. Our 3 month old puppy disappeared on his first camping trip this summer and was who knows where for 48 hours before we finally got a call from God sent people. I feel for you and the kitty. I went through something like this with my Pom but nowhere near as traumatic and she eventually warmed up to people again. We couldn't even let him be an outdoor cat because someone had declawed him. It is sad saying goodbye, but you did the best thing for him!

I had no idea an animal could get PTSD. What was it from? My mom was reading all these books on training her new dog and the books said that animals don't have memories, but I think this clearly shows they do. So sorry for your loss- I'm sure it's been tough but you are strong and can survive it! Just found your blog and I'm so excited to get to know you better and follow along!

Showing love is acknowledging that there is someone out there that maybe able to give Webster what he needs. You tried so hard and anyone that says otherwise is wrong and knows it. The worst thing you could have done was to deny that there was anything wrong, but not only did you do that and try to fix it, but you also gave him up so that he might have a chance at settling down again. I'm sorry you had to go through all that pain, but you did the right thing, and I know that no one in their right mind could ever blame you for not only doing the right thing, but for trying so hard before doing what was best for him. You put him first, and that's what all mothers and fathers of furbabies and human children too should do. You did what was best for them, even though it was hard and hurts. Love ya hun!
