Stuff & Things 11/5

I forgot to add my own button.
Clearly I’ve got my shit together.

>> The freak out over the red cups.  Y’all.  Y’ALL.  I’m all for getting excited over things.  I get excited over everything.  I just don’t get this one.  It’s a cup.  With the same coffee in it.  That you’re going to throw away.  Is it a “yay it’s the holiday season” thing?  Because if so then I TOTALLY get that.  But if it’s about the actual cups, then I’m lost.

>> I am in a cooking/food slump.  What are some of your favorite easy weekday meals?  I don’t do recipes with a ton of steps.  The easier the better.  Crockpot or throw crap into one dish and toss in the oven meals are the best.

>> I’ve been writing again, and it feels so good!  Sometimes, for me, writing is like swimming through mud.  But lately (gosh I hope I don’t jinx myself) it’s been coming pretty naturally.  For the first time ever in my life, I’ve been writing at night.  Before I even realize it, I’ll reach my word goal for the day!  Maybe just switching up the hour in which I write made all the difference!  Hashtag: let’s hope!

>> Don’t forget about Selfie Sunday!  The inaugural link up is this coming Sunday!  Pretty much anything goes to link up–anything that’s important TO YOU.  Anything that makes YOU YOU.

>> “Whatever journey you’re on, know this.  There IS light at the end of the tunnel.  Heck, there’s light in the middle of the tunnel.  Just set your feet on the path and take that first step.  You’ll be surrounded in light in no time.”  The wise Mrs. Hargrave said this in her post yesterday.  And while we’re on different paths, this brought me to tears.  It was exactly what I needed to hear when everything feels so out of sorts and unsettled.

>> The other night we were laying in bed and I was telling J that I saw Tater but didn’t get his number.  J was all “why would you need Tater’s number?”  Tater is the football equipment manager.  “Oh!  No! I meant Cornbread.”  Y’all.  I can’t make this shit up.  I did finally get Cornbread’s number, and this is the text conversation that ensued when I shared the contact with J.  (I don’t know why the exposure is all weird, but you get the point).

We make really good adults.

>> The other night, I put my glasses on and was SO DISAPPOINTED.  There was a scratch RIGHT in my line of vision in the lens.  I went to bed and forgot about it.  The next morning I woke up to an offer from a glasses company offering me a free pair of glasses in exchange for a blog post (coming soon).  This blogging thing really doesn’t suck!  Perfect timing! ha!  (For the record, I called my eye doctor and they’re actually going to replace my lenses for free–but hey!  It’s never a bad idea to have two pairs of glasses)!

Now it’s your turn!!  There are NO RULES so everyone should link up!

Pack Like a Pro: Moving Made Easy

So my friend called me last week in a bit of a panic. Without really meaning to, she and her husband sold their house and bought a new one. I'd tell you the whole story about how someone randomly showed up on their doorstep putting in an offer on their house that...

  3. Awesome about the glasses!!! I wish someone would offer me a pair! haha!

I have a recipe page on my blog of ones that I have made at least a few times and really liked. http://www.lifebynadinelynn.com/recipes/

Also, the Korean Beef that I have been making lately is so super easy and I make my homemade fried rice to go with it. That link is here http://elizabethbryant.blogspot.com/2010/05/korean-beef.html.

Also, Naan with some olive oil brushed on with some pizza sauce and a little cheese or whatever toppings you want in the oven for 8 minutes on 350 degrees then broil for 2 more minutes….so darn easy and delicious and not too terribly bad for you either!!!

  4. Hahaha, love that text conversation, that's something my husband and I would do too! We are constantly sending each other goofy messages and "stickers" on FB messenger.

I got an offer for glasses too! I don't wear prescription though, so I just ordered some "fashion" glasses. I've never worn glasses so it should be interesting!

  5. I have silly conversations like that with Chris all of the time. If people heard us sometimes, they would probably think that we were nuts. But I don't care. 🙂 I have a few recipes that I could send to you if you're interested. I hope that you are having a good day so far too. 🙂

  6. I know someone named Tater, he used to drive our school bus. Only here in the south right?

I got the glasses email too but when they said no sunglasses I got very sad.

  7. That text convo made me giggle. You two make AWESOME adults. 😉
    Yay for writing again!
For a super easy (but flavorful and filling) recipe, you should check out my Mexican Meat Pie recipe on the blog. It's super easy. Basically you just brown ground beef, add some taco seasoning, add some corn and rotel. Put it on top of some crescent rolls, bake, call it a day.

  8. I'm going to try to cook this weekend. One of the recipes does have a lot of ingredients but it's soup so since it's multiple meals, maybe that makes it okay? If it's a success then you better believe I will blog about it! I want free glasses just so I can get some ridiculous hipster ones. Is that weird?

  9. Your text convo is hilarious! Is it weird, I now wish I had some cornbread? haha I've been sticking to a lot of soups in the crockpot now that it's a bit cooler out. Otherwise I've been kind of in a rut too!

  10. I have been wanting cornbread since my fiance and I went to Cracker Barrel on Saturday morning and got there to early for cornbread..and your text conversation just proved I better get some cornbread in my life soon or idk what will happen.

  11. Love your text convo, don't worry, we do stuff like that too 😉 I'm not sure on the red cup thing haha. I don't get excited over it, I'm not really a fan of any of the holiday coffees, but I think it's more of a "Eekkk the holidays are here!" thing lol

  12. I love seeing the first red cup, but I like it in December because it makes me feel Christmasy.

    Your text is hilarious!

  13. I love my crock pot! I've been trying to do one crock pot recipe (that's actually easy) from pinterest a week. I love coming home to dinner ready and leftovers!

  14. I don't really go crazy over the red cups either, but I think it's more of a universal symbol that Christmas is officially within countdown range, haha.

Is the offer from Firmoo? If so – I think you'll really like them. I got a free pair a couple of years ago that I blogged about, and since then, I've ordered two more pairs that I paid for because I like them so much. They're decent quality, they've gotten my prescription right each time, they come with a case and a little screwdriver and everything, they always have styles I like and they're SUPER affordable! They're perfect to tide me over until I can get LASIK.

  15. Haha those texts!! And one of my go-to meals that's super easy is on Biana's post- the sausage & veggie stir fry. It's easy, quick, and filling. And I got one of those glasses offers too.. hope they look good 🙂

  16. I love that your husband knows people with ridiculous nicknames, too. I thought it was just my husband.

I need to come up with a list of easy weeknight meals that I can go to. I've been trying to work on it but I'm lazy.

Hooray for the writing! I go in waves where it comes naturally or it doesn't. NaNo is both helping and making it worse!

  17. That quote about light is a good one! I swear…..as my mother always says enjoy the highs because the lows will be lows…..always seem to have everything hit at once right?

  18. I did genuinely love what Ryan had to say on her blog yesterday. And I love that you highlighted it here.
Also, I ordered an iced drink from Starbucks today and those cups are NOT red. Such a disappointment…

  19. Yay for free glasses, and oh man this really sucks. Happened to me once and I will never forget it. Ever. 🙁
I got my red cup today. I was so excited I jumped a little. My husband thought I was nuts, but hey, a coffee lover's gotta love her red cup. 🙂
