Stuff & Things 10/23

>> I went out to dinner on Tuesday night with some Raleigh bloggers!!  It was so awesome to get to see all these sweet girls in person and swap stories!  They’re all gorgeous fashion bloggers (and we all know I am so not a fashion blogger) so they all look put together and I look homeless.  I’m owning it hah!

>> I spent most of the day on Wednesday tackling my house.  How does it get so out of control.  Especially the laundry.  I mean, really.  It was out of control!  I’m working on implementing some kind of schedule for my cleaning stuff.  If and when I figure that out–I’ll share it.

>> I’m so tired by the time I finally crawl into bed (which let’s face it…has been around 8:30/9PM lately) I can hardly make it through any reading before I zonk out.  I need to find more time to get in some reading time.  It’s taking an embarrassing amount of time to get through my current book.

>>I haven’t been writing.  I know.  I wish I had an excuse.  I don’t.  Instead I’ve been throwing myself into a lot of other things.  Along with the cleaning schedule, I’m working on getting a better grasp of all of my hats.  I wear a lot, in case you were wondering.

>> My cat ate my freaking planner.  Not my dog.  My cat.  I’d use this as the perfect excuse to buy myself the Emily Ley daily planner…but you know I won’t drop that number of dollar bills on a planner.  They sure are pretty though!

>> I’ve been making myself more at home on this campus.  I know it’s silly to say that now considering I’ve lived here for over 1.5 years now (gosh, has it really been that long?) but I’ve always felt a little out of place because I don’t work here and I don’t go to school here.  But you know what?  Living on campus has its perks.  And walking to the coffee shop (we just got a starbucks–a real live starbucks) and walking to grab lunch and just walking everywhere in general is definitely nice.  Especially now that J and I are sharing a car.  I’m not trapped in the house all day if I don’t want to be (and I really needed to get out of the habit of not leaving for days and days–that’s not good for anyone).

So my friend called me last week in a bit of a panic. Without really meaning to, she and her husband sold their house and bought a new one. I'd tell you the whole story about how someone randomly showed up on their doorstep putting in an offer on their house that...

  1. How fun that you got to meet up with some bloggers!!! And umm, the homeless people there must look a lot different than the Alabama homeless people….

I need to start cleaning more throughout the week and not save it all for the weekend. I spend 3 to 4 hours of my weekend cleaning and it drives me crazy!! It's just, I am so tired during the week I don't feel like doing it when I come home from work, ya know?!

  2. Walkability is a HUGE perk to living on a college campus.

hahaha you don't look homeless but I've felt like that myself among fashionistas before so I know where you're coming from.

  5. I need to get better at leaving the house during the week now that it's cold, it's so easy to just sit inside and be lazy after work.

I also need to start the great cold weather clean as I'm calling it, I've told Tyson I'm throwing away half of our stuff and I'm only sort of joking.

  6. You definitely don't look homeless, you guys all look great! So fun to meet up with other bloggers! Being in walking distance to places is one of my favorite things ever- especially if it's a coffee shop 🙂 I need to remember to linkup with this soon 🙂

  7. Blogger meet-ups are the MOST stressful thing to dress for. There's one this weekend and not feeling like looking cute is one of the top reasons I will likely skip it! I need to work on a cleaning routine/schedule too. I've started with keeping Lysol wipes in the rooms where I think I'll need them so they're that much more accessible and doing more stuff in the morning before I go to work (like unloading or loading a few dishes) but I haven't found my groove… yet!

  12. I'm not really a "stuff and things" blogger. I haven't done one of those posts but I really enjoy reading Kristin's Knook. I used to live in Alaska too. But the whole walking to things from home is my favorite. I just bought a house specifically because its in a neighborhood where I can walk to bars, restaurants, art galleries, coffee shop, and frozen yogurt. I just discovered Orange Tree and I'm in love. I'm gonna add you into my bloglovin and I'm looking forward to reading your posts too. My blogger account is no-repy (again and boo!) so my email is estherdavison@gmail.com. Esther Norine Designs

  14. Woohoo for making yourself more at home on campus!

And you totally look great, girl!

I have this odd image in my head of a cat stuffing the whole planner into his mouth and then gulping it down in one bite. I don't know why, but I do… and now I'm laughing.

  16. Girl you don't look homeless! And I'm so jealous you got to meet other bloggers! I've only met one and I had to fly to Phoenix to meet her, haha!
I didn't realize you lived on campus. How did I miss that? So glad you're finally feeling at home.
And your cat ate your planner? That is why I don't do cats (well…that and I'm allergic). 😉

  17. You are SO funny!! You hardly look homeless; you fit right in!! I have a paper eating cat, too. I'd love one of those fancy planners, but I cannot justify the large price tag. Maybe I'll win one some day… Congrats on getting so much done around the house and for getting to bed early. I promise myself every night that I'll get in bed by 10 and it has yet to happen.

  19. Omg lady you do not look homeless!!! Wonderful that you got together with some other bloggers though!! Glad that you had fun. Sorry that your cat ate your planner. Not sure how a cat can eat something that big, but I don't have pets so I don't know haha. Living on campus does sound nice, and congrats on the new Starbucks! 🙂 I hope that you had a good day today too!!
